The Beginning
North & Sons started in 2015
North & Sons began in 2015 when the family grew and the ambition to build something lasting grew with it.
The business started with one decorator, a small car and a simple way of working: arrive when agreed, prepare the surfaces properly and leave every customer with a finish worthy of the family name.
Since then, North & Sons has grown into a team of qualified decorators and an apprentice, bringing together more than 45 years of combined trade experience. Most of our work takes place across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland, although projects have also taken us from Oxford Street in London to the Scottish Borders.
The size of the business has changed, but the standards behind it have not. We remain closely involved in every project, from the first conversation and quotation through to the final inspection. Customers are kept informed, their property is treated with care and the work is never rushed simply to move on to the next job.
North & Sons has now completed hundreds of domestic and commercial decorating projects, including work in family homes, rental properties, offices, retail units, healthcare premises and industrial environments.
The company was recognised as one of the ThreeBestRated Painters & Decorators in North Tyneside for 2025, but the strongest measure of the business is still the standard attached to every completed job.

North & Sons combines traditional decorating skills with modern equipment, specialist product knowledge and a careful approach to every property. The team works across domestic and commercial projects, but the standard remains the same: proper preparation, clear communication and no shortcuts that compromise the finished result.
Traditional Decorating Skills, Modern Paint Systems
The team includes two Level 2 qualified decorators, one Level 3 qualified decorator and an apprentice, with more than 45 years of combined trade experience.
That experience helps the team assess different surfaces properly, recognise where additional preparation is needed and select finishes suited to the room, material and level of wear. It also means customers receive practical advice based on real decorating knowledge rather than guesswork.
Fully Insured and Safety Trained
North & Sons holds £10 million insurance cover, along with employers’ liability insurance.
The team has also completed training in:

- ladder safety
- tower erection
- manual handling
- asbestos awareness
These measures help work to be planned and carried out responsibly, particularly on exterior, commercial and larger-scale decorating projects.
